Representing interests and protecting innovation

For the first time, the Walter Haslinger Private Foundation hosted its Corporate Law Day alongside the Walter Haslinger Award ceremony on November 14th in the historic Redoutensäle in Linz. Numerous guests accepted the invitation, blending professional input with networking and celebrating four outstanding lawyers who were honored at the Walter Haslinger Award ceremony.
Focus on sustainability – here to stay
The afternoon centered on the topic “Sustainability and Civil Law – Who Pays for the World’s Sins?” Anne-Christin Mittwoch, a renowned thought leader and professor at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, provided a comparative legal perspective from outside Austria. Stephanie Nitsch, a researcher at the University of Vienna, offered insights into the Austrian viewpoint on the topic. For there are many questions, the basic idea is clear, but in the details, one encounters numerous ambiguities. What does supply chain due diligence really mean? What are the obligations of a company toward its direct and indirect suppliers? How far does the duty to investigate go? These and other questions were thoroughly explored during the subsequent discussion, moderated by Friedrich Rüffler, Professor of Corporate Law at the University of Vienna.

26th Walter Haslinger Award ceremony
Since 1996, the Walter Haslinger Private Foundation has conferred the Walter Haslinger Award on outstanding jurists, who are honored at the Walter Haslinger Award ceremony. Following welcome remarks by Julia Goth and Bernd Wiesinger (both Partners at Haslinger / Nagele), this year’s award-winning works by Franz Hartlieb, Magdalena Hiebl-Fuchs, Philipp Stanek, and Marco Wolfsberger on various topics of corporate law were presented, and the awards were handed out.
Afterwards, the award winners were toasted with a flying buffet and DJ beats. Numerous representatives from business, academia and the judiciary celebrated together with the award winners and the employees and clients of Haslinger / Nagele until the early hours of the morning.
