New release: Circular Economy Handbook
On January 22nd, 2026, the Circular Economy Handbook, edited by Karin Huber-Heim, Julika Dittrich, and Valerie-Sophie Schönberg, was published by the Linde Verlag. The aim of the book is to understand, design, and implement the circular economy. It provides an interdisciplinary overview, ranging from the theoretical basics to the practical implementation in companies.
The chapter “Responsibility in the Post-Use Phase: A Comparison of Extended Producer Responsibility in Germany and Austria” was written by Reka Krasznai together with Michael Öttinger.
The chapter covers the following topics:
- Comparison of extended producer responsibility in Austria and Germany in the areas of battery, packaging, and electrical and electronic equipment law
- Harmonization trends at the EU level through new EU regulations
- Nevertheless, there are significant differences in the national implementation of EU law requirements
