Representing interests and protecting innovation

Together with the Austrian Water and Waste Management Association (ÖWAV), we, Haslinger/Nagele, are hosting the annual ÖWAV seminar “Water Law for Practice.” Here, you will receive a comprehensive overview of the legal developments of the past year as well as an outlook on future legislation and recent court decisions concerning water law. This event will keep you reliably “up-to-date” in water law!
This time, particular focus will be placed on water law aspects of the expansion of renewable energy and the new Freedom of Information Act, as well as current legal questions concerning ecology and fisheries. The provisions of the RED III (Renewable Energy Directive) still need to be implemented into Austrian law, which is currently the subject of heated debate. How this will be carried out from the perspective of water law will be examined and discussed from several angles.
In water law proceedings, fishery and ecological issues play a major role: contributions on fishery compensation as well as on fish ascent and descent are dedicated to them. Furthermore, initial experiences with the fundamental right to freedom of information and the resulting legal questions in connection with water law will be addressed.
The event will be moderated by Wolfgang Berger. Together with Magdalena Gollé, he will also give a presentation on the topic of “Changes in Approval Criteria and Balancing of Interests?” in Block II at 1:50 p.m.
