Medical law: pharmacologic treatment of obesity

This article in the journal Recht der Medizin (Medical Law) describes and analyzes three cases of patients suffering from obesity. This is followed by a medical-scientific discussion of the need for treatment of obesity, first in general terms and then based on the three specific cases. Bianca-Karla Itariu and Stephanie Poggenburg are responsible for this content. Subsequently, the cases are assessed from a social security law perspective, with a particular focus on the possibility of reimbursement for pharmacological obesity therapy (“weight-loss injections”), followed by a final conclusion by Gisela Ernst.
