Representing interests and protecting innovation

The topic of hydrogen is on everyone’s lips right now. Consequently, the second Talk about Energy Law at the Vienna University of Economics and Business was entitled “Building a hydrogen industry in Austria”.
At the event, organized by Prof. Dr. Stefan Storr and Prof. Dr. Christoph Krönke from the Institute of Public Law at the Vienna University of Economics and Business, Johannes Hartlieb gave a presentation on the practical problems involved in setting up and operating hydrogen filling stations. The hydrogen filling station project “Solhub” of the company Fronius was presented as a practical example.
The event also focused on the questions of how an industry that still barely exists can be sensibly regulated and to what extent the existing electricity and gas regulatory regime can also be used for hydrogen as an energy source.
