Last week, our Partner Birgit Voglmayr joined a panel of young professionals discussing chances and challenges for next generation attorneys. The speakers were asked for their views on a broad range of issues, from the attractiveness of becoming a lawyer these days, to the impact of the digitisation on the legal profession and how the legal education at universities should adapt to these developments.
In her statement, Birgit stressed the importance of an open-minded attitude towards technological and economic developments, but thoughtfulness with regard to their impact – in the legal profession and elsewhere. “Lawyers always had to be curious about economic, political, and societal developments in order to accurately address their clients’ demands. If you want to advise a client on legal issues concerning his or her business, you have to understand the given business and its economic surroundings, too.”
Now, facing developments that are often referred to as a “revolution” or “the dawn of a new era”, they will probably have to do so even more than ever before.
The event was hosted by the Vienna Bar and streamed live.
